Re: Summer Trip Planning

Don't forget the Slate/Red Mountain combo. O'Leary combo with Walnut Canyon is another good one but we did that on a Fri afternoon/Saturday. There's lots to do up there. The Kachina Trail is a nice one too. I do the Groom Creek Loop outside of Prescott for exercise. Will have to hit a couple of thos...

Re: Class of 2013 North Bound

Matt Brown and I started on March 17 and finished on May 3. From reading registers and talking to people, it looks like Summitbagger and Crazylegs started 2 days before us and finished 2 weeks ahead of us, and SOL, Lint, and Dirtmonger finished the day after us (not sure when they started). Passed ...

Re: If you had to choose ...

Arizona Trail :) I was waiting for someone to say that... :D During season for me there's nothing like hiking the Highline/Swiftcurrent Trail in Glacier National Park. As to my ashes (not sure how that got in the thread), interestingly enough I just updated my will to have my ashes scattered somewh...

Re: KEEN shoes/boots

How comfortable are my Keens? They feel like slippers. I have two pair. One for fall/winter (little to no vents) and another pair for spring/summer with vents.

Re: Superstition Snow

There's snow on Tom's Thumb. I ran out and got a couple pics as I happened to have my camera with me. The Thumb is in clouds again though.... maybe getting more snow!

Re: What do you do for a living??

I'm a Technical Support manager (adult babysitter over a bunch of technodweebs) I'm not that old, the first DEC I worked on/with and 4k memory, but the 10 megabyte Hard Drive required a forklift to move, then there was the issue of re-calibrating the read heads ... now I read that as red heads,

Re: What do you do for a living??

I currently do residential construction/restoration (hanging drywall and painting mostly). Before that I was a pizza cook, and before that a pizza delivery driver. However, I hope soon to land a tour guide or park ranger job as I am currently not using my bachelors of science degree in geography. c...

I expect to be there! Looking forward to it. John picked the Tunnel and Pinal City tours.
And we're going to the BBQ lunch (BRUCE ;) ).

I need a break from painting picket posts.

Re: 2013: Rain, Snow, Wind, and Sun

Learned this trick after moving here - stand your windshield wipers up straight when parked overnight, or for the day ... that way they don't freeze to the windshield. Ah, winter ... love it! geez, after all those cold winters in Montana; this is the first time I've heard of such a thing. And in th...

Re: 2013: Rain, Snow, Wind, and Sun

snow on the McDowells including Thompson Peak and a couple of the lower peaks...I was shocked to see that as I made the turn to the west around 2:45PM. Clouds had been enveloping the McDowells most of the morning.

Re: Is bad accuracy of tracks normal?

I've always been frustrated with the way Garmin "saves" tracks. Not only does it truncate, but it also eliminates the time data. (Perhaps this has changed on newer models?) For me the key has always been to keep the Active Log going and use that for my uploads. I split it into separate hi...

Re: state TRUST land?!

Yep, I just purchased another permit; mine expires at the end of the month. It's not really that much money for a year and I figured why not be safe than sorry. The thing is to remember to put it up in the window.
