Re: Close encounter

We were at the first rappel up near the ridgeline after just dropping into the beginnings of a canyon in Red Rocks outside of Las Vegas this last weekend and both of us got buzzed at least a few times by small yet fast birds. Good thing we had helmets and glasses on but after getting buzzed while on...

Re: spicy Cat Problem at Gilbert Riparian Preserve

How does a city that size get away with dumping their wastewater in an open area? First off, we're not a city, it's the Town of Gilbert. That water is of course treated from the nearby water treatment plant and doesn't have a sewer stench it it... And who in there right mind wants their local...

Re: 2 Missing Utah Hiker's Bodies Found in Superstitons

That's crazy!!! The went in the middle of summer to avoid being tracked... Wouldn't that be wild if someone was still crazy enough to track them in the summer heat and shot them all?!? :scared:

Re: What is your favorite supplement?

@ Al_Hikes

Hmm, for hiking I used to do EmergenCs but these days it's mostly Gu's/Power Gels and maybe a Powerade during or after the hike for recovery and loads of Vitamin D from the sun. :GB:

Re: Metal locators

Upon further research, I don't think that Greenlee that my work rents out will work for this scenario since it's designed with two leads that you connect to the valves wires and then with the wand you walk the yard while doing your best to trace the wire by following the signal...

Re: Missing hiker in Mazatzals - gpsjoe (Joe Domin)

There must be someone on HAZ who works construction or contracting that might know more about this stuff. I work in the Irrigation Industry and we rent one for $50/day and we call them wire locators for finding valves wire & detecting breaks. I suppose I could borrow it on the weekends but I ne...

Re: Missing hiker in Mazatzals - gpsjoe (Joe Domin)

@Grasshopper Yea, looking at Joe's tracks and how he didn't seem to mind going off trail even when logic would say sticking to the trail longer would have been quicker, I think it's possible on his way back maybe tired and low on daylight he may have summited Peely again and was slowly working his ...
