Re: Devil's Chasm - Dog Friendly?

Yes just did this today, definitely impossible! That last section is one of the most hardcore scary stretches of "Trail" I have been on in AZ. Glad I left the pooch home.

Re: Devil's Chasm - Dog Friendly?

Thanks all. This was the answer I expected and I agree with you. My hunch was this was not a good one for my K9 hiking bud.

I forgot to think about the rattlesnakes as well. :scared: That's good enough reason to leave her home right there.

Thnx!

Devil's Chasm - Dog Friendly?

Hi All, Just curious if Devil's Chasm is a dog doable hike. I would of course leave her out of the ruin, but is a dog capable of making the hike. My puppy is an 85 pound black lab mix and a great hiker. I'm concerned about the big boulder and second waterfall. Anyone been up there with a dog? Thanks...

Ugh, I was considering taking my dog down Lower Fish this weekend, not anymore. That's distressing to hear.

Tortilla Well - When did it burn?

My Dad, brother, cousin and I took a cruise back to Tortilla Well yesterday for some nice outdoor activities only to find the area around Tortilla Well to be completely burned. Does anyone know when this happened? My cousin and I were out there in Nov. of 09 and it wasn't burned. It looks fairly rec...

Re: Scary NRA Militia types?!!

I would encourage more people to get the permit and carry concealed, you still get the peace of mind, and you don't freak out those that don't make the decision to be prepared! Just because people don't carry guns while hiking doesn't necessarily mean that they are unprepared for wilderness travel,...

Alternate ways into West Fork of Oak Creek

Hi All, Anyone out there know if there's an alternate way into the West Fork of Oak Creek other than the place to drop in and do the trough hike? Anyone know of any easy access areas not requiring any technical climbing off of the Harding point area or any of the other areas right to the north of we...

you can try to twist my words all you want, my position was clearly stated that I was talking about two individuals I had seen on the trail, nothing more. You are generalizing without reading all my comments.

Re: Scary NRA Militia types?!!

In response to pixelfrog's reply: You find it disturbing that people are exercising their second amendment rights? And complaining about gun toting weirdos while quoting Hunter S. Thompson in your signature quote? Wow, the Irony. Good material for "The Far Side" comic strip, from days of yore. Wow ...

Agreed azhiker96, fines would probably help a bit and I'd love to report some of those violaters as well. The Hellsgate Wilderness is under Tonto National Forest juristication if I'm correct so maybe we can contact them and see what types of options are available. I'd even be willing to donate a lit...

Yeah I was up there on Saturday as well, it is a TERRIBLE shame how that first section of the Narrows looks. Beverage containers everywhere, old styrofoam coolers, socks, old grungy towels, it really made me ill. As we were hiking out we saw many teenagers on there way in with more garbage to dispos...

You may have Planters Fasciitis, a common foot ailment. I have it, and it is no fun. Extremely painful and persistant, I think it takes up to like 6 months to get rid of. Check out this link for more info.

Digital Cameras

Hi All,

I'm finally gonna get a digital camera, :D :D but not quite sure what kind yet. Can anyone recommend a good hiking/backpacking digital camera that can take the trail and is 3 megapixels? Also I will want to boost the memory up quite a bit.

Thanks in Advance!

Worst Case Scenario last night

Anyone see this? They were in Arizona again, I think somewhere near the Superstitions again. Thought they showed the Flatiron at one point. Unfortunately missed the second half of that part. The weird thing was the lady and her family that were involved with the bouldering/scrambling/helicopter resc...
