Today is the 86th birthday of the National Park Service.

I heard this on NPR this morning, but they don't have anything on the NPS site about it.

on August 25, 1916, President Woodrow Wilson approved legislation creating the National Park Service within the Interior Department.

All National Parks were free today...no entrance fee Of course if you're a semi-old fart like me, you pay your $10 one time fee, grab your Golden Age pass and never pay another entrance fee at any National Park or National Monument

When I went in last week, they made me show my Driver's license, 'cause "You don't look old enough to have a Golden Age pass " Third time that's happened
Of course as I left they turn to their partner and say, "Made that old farts day, didn't I "
