Apache Creek Wilderness

Postby RangerKelly » Jun 07 2011 8:25 am

Hey everyone. While I was in Prescott a while back I remember someone talking about Apache Creek Wilderness. I recently looked it up and it looks like a really cool place to visit. Has anyone here ever visited that area. Any pictures or anything? Thanks a lot.

I'm not sure, there may not be any trails in the wilderness. Hence few have experienced and those that have tend to be reluctant to share. Perhaps the best beta you can obtain is from surrounding hikes and enter prepared for the worst. Looks to be in season around late March or October. Apache Creek looks like a good 2.5 to 12 mile hike depending on how you choose to tackle it.

According to some info I have seen there is a little trail that goes through the wilderness, I was just wondering if the creek there is reliable or not.

Don't know much about the area, no firsthand info but:

Lo Ranch trail starting at 34 55.1 N 112 52.7 W and going to 34 53.6 N, 112 54.6 W.
From same TH, Apache Creek Trail, heads south
You can access Graber Wash and upper Graber Wash via Apache Creek trail

Hyde Mtn Trail
7-Up Trail
Grapevine
Stringtown Trail

from further south

And Dead Steer Basin Trail a little southeast.
