"MAN CORN - Cannibalism & Violence in the Prehistoric SW"

Postby Randal Schulhauser » Jul 16 2010 8:07 pm

I know this is old news, but my copy of the 1999 Turner & Turner book just arrived today => http://www.amazon.com/Man-Corn-Cannibal ... ikearizona :scared:

Inspired by a recent trip to Chaco Canyon http://hikearizona.com/photoset.php?ID=11574 and the requisite camp fire discussions, decided I would give this a read. I just finished the Introduction and I'm hooked already...

Read it back in 2004. Fascinating book. I was reading a recent thing in Prehistoric Southwestern Mortuary Practices that was saying that some of the C-14 dates might be off due to a lack of calibration when they were originally dated.
Anyway, a worthwhile read for anyone interested in the prehistoric southwest.

Recall a Forum thread speculating about Perry Mesa people "organized for war?" pointing to MAN CORN as a general reference to Southwest prehistoric violence. Check out the old thread => viewtopic.php?t=3677 :scared:

That one's been on my Amazon.com wishlist for some time. I can't wait to finish this damned MBA program so I can start reading interesting things! Please let us know how it is

I also thank you for the link. My wife and I spent quite a bit of time up on Perry Mesa and have speculated on what kind of folks they were.
