"A Hiker's Guide to Healing" - why one woman hiked

Postby Al_HikesAZ » May 03 2012 2:33 pm

I'm always looking for articles on healing. This was not exactly what I expected.

Aspen Matis lives in New York and is writing a memoir of rape and the wilderness adventure that helped her heal.

Feeling shame and needing to be alone, a rape victim walks — and walks — searching for peace...
Anybody can make a hike harder. The real skill comes in making the hike easier. http://www.flickr.com/photos/7202153@N03/

Wow, amazing story. Thanks for posting this, Alan.
I'm standing alone on the cliffs of the world
No one ever tends to me
Sitting alone, covered in rays
Some things are so my mind can breath

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty & well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, totally worn out & proclaiming, "Wow What a Ride!"
