Bear Wallow Wilderness

Postby vagabond » May 13 2003 9:30 am

Has anyone been there? How's the fishing, camping, solitude, and scenery along Bear Wallow Creek?

I've backpacked this area 5 or 6 times.
A lot of solitude; good water sources. Nice scenery. I usually stay at Luna Lake campground the night before to acclimatize & eat in Alpine @ Bear Wallow Cafe.
Last trip (last Sept.) I even arranged for a drop off so that I could do a hike as a "shuttle" hike by asking the waitress @ the Bear Wallow. Her brother was there on Friday night & we met back @ the Bear Wallow Cafe Sat. AM for the ride. Terrific area, Bear Wallow and the Blues.
You will not be disappointed.
I cannot speak on the fishing.

Thanks for the info. Bear Wallow was great, both the cafe and the wilderness. By the way, the fishing is really good there.
