This is my first post, so first of all, hello...look forward to tapping into all of your experiences.

We are thinking of doing a one nighter at Ash Creek, is it very populated and are there "remote" areas to camp for the night? We are probably going to do it from bottom up, camp and then return down the next day.

If it's Mt Graham two things--

Start early, the bottom will be a rotissere
and it is a little tricky to discover the proper dirt road/Jeep trail that leads to the lower TH.
IMO better to go down, then up again, at least you'll be ascending into cooler climate. I camped below Shingle Mill trail junction and saw no one else that evening or the next morning the whole way out as I climbed up.
I was there in August of last year, got rained on , and had plenty of water in the stream.

Anywhere below falls is likely to be low trafficed. May have to look for water as I am not sure how well the stream is going, falls photos I have seen looks like very low this year so far.

If it's the Galiuros--way too hot, even higher up as Bassett Peak only a little over 7000 feet.

I was there (Mt. Graham version) on July 2nd, and as of then there was water. Preston Sands was recently there as evidenced by his new photos. you could always pm him if he doesn't see this thread.

It's Graham...I wasn't sure about going from top to bottom, how far back up is it to get to a cooler are to camp? We would rather sleep at 40-70 degrees than 80-90.

I went down from upper Th, set up camp as I mentioned before, then went on down to the bottom then back up to my campsite. A long day but broke up the climbing portion which is something like 5000 feet in elevation gain from the desert bottom. My camp was in the Aspen and quite cool, long john weather at night. I was below the falls area but above Oak Flat. Had quite a bit of cold air drainage off the mountain so too warm was not an issue.

Oh, and be sure and be bear aware, they are active in that area.
