HAZ appreciation

Postby hippiepunkpirate » Apr 02 2009 11:18 pm

Don't mean to :bdh: but every now and again it is good and proper to thank Joe for providing us with such a great place to come together for the exchange of knowledge, information, ideas, experiences and everything else related to hiking Arizona (and beyond). Just go to google and search "California hiking" or "Utah hiking". None of our neighbors have anything that compares to the wealth of knowledge found on our beloved HAZ. I feel fortunate that I don't have to settle for :scared: summit post to get my fix. summit post is nice and all, but it's just so focused on the incredibly advanced. Sometimes you have two hours at your disposal with people that want minimal effort in their nature experience and POOF...HAZ provides the quick, necessary info to make the most of your trip. There's plenty of variety for my hiking needs, and I sure appreciate that!

In spades...!!! Joe, we (at least, some of us :D ) may argue amongst ourselves and we may complain from time to time, but imagine how we'd holler if this site disappeared!

I second the motion, a great big THANK YOU!!!

My life would be infinitely different if not for HAZ. I was casually interested in hiking when I first discovered this site, simply looking for a nice stroll that my girlfriend and I could do while staying in a cabin in the White Mountains. Since then, it has developed into an obsession, for which I can credit HAZ.

I couldn't agree more. : app :

My biggest complaint about the site is that one of the most difficult things to find is this link, so here it is:

funny, that was my story as well. hard to find a website that so can influence a person for the good...to get you out in nature, appreciate God's beauty, and get some great exercise!!

It's like a second life for so many of us. I've learned so much... like a trail is not necessarily a trodden path but a place to be explored and enjoyed, good and bad.
I've met new people, seen incredible photography, hiked vicariously through others trip logs/photos to places I'll never see, :sl: so hard I forgot what I was doing and so much more.
:thanx: Joe. You just can't imagine how much we all appreciate the enormous amount of your life you have put into making this a site many of us have to visit several times a day. :budrose:
For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination.
Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled.

When was the last time you really got pissed off, in the HAZ forum?
.....priceless.
I think Monsoon season will begin around June 20, plus or minus 5 days, not by the calendar according to the NWS, but when dew points rise dramatically, and it begins to rain over the Sacramento Mountains. It will start about 10 days later in Arizona.
