Prescott/Sedona Hike

Postby kgmolson » Jan 25 2008 8:55 am

Looking a difficult (strenuous) hike, about 10 or so miles in the Sedona Prescott area.

I have hiked quite a few trails in the area, I am looking for something new and challanging.

Any ideas?

Thaks Joel... I have noticed alot of what seem to be good hikes in that area. Is 525C passable with my tiny Honda Civic?

Haha I wish I could answer that, but I've never been there. It's just on my major to-do list, maybe spring break.

Right on... I will give it a go in the Civic... see what happens.

This spring I was planning on hitting up Wilson Mountain and some hikes along Oak Creek Canyon... Let me know if you would be down for something like that.

If you really want to punish yourself, try this: Dogie Trail to Sycamore Creek, head up Sycamore Creek past Taylor Cabin, take Taylor Cabin trail to the top of Casner Mtn, and then take the Casner Mtn Trail back down to your car. The climb up Casner Mtn is a beeyotch, and likely covered in snow to make it more fun. Mileage is around 16 or so...I think.

Yeah, that is a good hike!

As far as your Civic goes; I'm not sure, I haven't been down that road in a while. The last time I drove it, a ranger stopped me and told me I'd never make it in the Taurus I was driving at the time. He didn't know me very well; unless it's ridiculous 4WD, I can get any car anywhere. There was one spot, towards the end of the drive that was a bit rocky and your Civic would likely scrape there, but with some careful driving and maybe some strategically moved rocks, you could probably make it without leaving your oil pan or exhaust system behind.

I will give it a shot... That Civic has been through hell and back. If it can take the Coventry mud (Phish heads... you know what I mean) it can take anything.
