Jake's Trail/Z Trail/Squaw Canyon

Jake's Trail/Z Trail/Squaw Canyon

Postby Mr Squishy » Feb 20 2009 10:25 pm

I backpacked into Marsh Valley and spent a day searching for the trail up Squaw Canyon mentioned in Carlson (Trip 31). Supposedly this trail leads up to Peters Mesa beginning along the west side of Squaw Canyon.
He says there is a seven foot monument on a high bench at the mouth of Squaw Canyon - I couldn't find it. I tried to cut track across Squaw Canyon looking for a trail, but no luck. I don't find this trail listed under any of the three names in the subject header. Anybody out there hiked this trail?
thanks.

I've scouted for the trail...I think you will just climb up the valley the easiest way as you see fit.

With the recent rains, the valley is quite brushy - I hiked across it a few hundred yards above the stream and then down Squaw Creek - it was pretty rough going. But next time, I guess I'll bring the tough pants and shirt and thrash on up.
