It does not sound fun to me. Postholing is never fun. I've experienced that at 10,000 feet on Baldy and at 12,000 and 13,000 on Whitney. You are tired, and then your leg is suddenly plunged three feet deep in the snow, because it won't hold your weight. Especially bad when you are carrying a week's worth of supplies and gear on your back.
