Secret Canyon to the rim

Secret Canyon to the rim

Postby fotogirl53 » Jul 11 2012 10:24 pm

Does anyone know if it is possible to follow Secret Canyon to the rim going up canyon? I know that the Loy Canyon trail tops out at the saddle with Secret Canyon on the other side and I was wondering about if it would be possible. Or would you have to go up Loy Canyon and down Secret--would rappeling be involved?

Talk to the people from the Flagstaff Hiking Club who did it as a backpacking trip last year. It is possible, but is definitely some serious bushwhacking, from what I heard.

I've gone downcanyon from the Loy saddle, it was very nice - some down climbing and bushwhack but no rappelling involved. Going upcanyon would be tougher but probably doable.
