Sabino-Bear Trail Condition

Postby Vaporman » Dec 25 2006 2:14 pm

Was wandering if anyone knows the current condition of this loop? I haven't been up here since before the flood and I'm still interested in completing this loop. I hear they've taken down the signs that threaten a huge fine, but is this loop do-able for an experienced hiker? For a frame of reference, last time I was up here I did a Sabino-Esperero Loop over Sabino-Bear Loop b/c it was summer and I had more daylight and wanted to add more mileage. I was training up for a week in Yosemite. I also am fairly skilled in canyoneering and climbing, so there's not a whole lot that impedes me, unless I don't bring my rope. :)

Another question is which canyon was more heavily damaged? I'd hate to complete 3/4 of the loop and run into something that's impassable, requiring me to backtrack the long way out. :o
