Connecting weekday hikers

Postby azdesertfather » Jul 10 2009 12:02 am

Most people like to go hiking on Saturdays, Sundays & holidays. But there are a few of us out there who have irregular work schedules and routinely have a weekday off.

For instance, there are a few guys who often have Fridays available, and we'll PM each other a day or two ahead and plan a day hike.

How about all of you? What weekdays do you routinely have free & can use at times for a day hike?

Usually I can plan a Monday, sometimes a Tuesday or Wednesday, if someone wants to PM me and meet me at Bashas' in Eagar. One of the closest really nice hikes from Eagar is South Fork, about 9 miles away. Can do creek hike, or a loop hike, or can hike S. Fork to Mexican Hay Lake for a nice out-and-back workout, about 12 miles.

Water Canyon's another one. Water Canyon gets no press--I put it up on here recently. TH is only about 4 miles from Bashas'. It's a creek hike, has a trail part-way, but most of it is not an official FS one. There's also Escudilla, Baldy, etc. I'm always looking to carpool, too, so if anyone wants to meet me at the Eagar Bashas' on a Monday, Tues, or Wed. shoot me a PM.

I have every other Friday off and can usually take off any Friday. This is in addition to weekends and a few holidays.

The match profiles have this info but I havnt found a way to search by that field. Maybe we could beg Joe to add that in the match area?

Hopefully by your choice...or bad news from work? I hear a lot of people being told to figure out when they're going to take mandatory furloughs, or the layoffs will begin :gun: Hopefully you're not in that class, too?!

I see a few people are posting Friday availability here...will throw something out there for Friday the 31st, and see what people say...

Wednesday and Thursday seem to be my best days right now (that'll change in late August). I usually go early to avoid the monsoons. Anyone is welcome to PM me if planning a Flag area hike!
