Fossil Springs Closure Announced
http://azdailysun.com/news/local/fossil-creek-area-closed-on-thursday/article_670f6e7a-bb1b-11e1-861a-001a4bcf887a.html
A chunk of national forest lands in and around Fossil Creek Wilderness will be closed to the public beginning at 8 a.m. Thursday due to extreme fire danger.

The Coconino and Tonto national forests are closing the area to all due to risk of a wildfire burning the scenic area, and out concern that people would be trapped there if a fire did start.

Forest Service law enforcement personnel plan to issue citations to any person found in the area, and for any potentially fire-starting activities, like smoking.

Orders could be lifted when rain arrives, or would otherwise expire at the end of August.

The actual order and a map of the closed area can be found here. http://www.redrockcountry.org/about-us/orders/04-12-16-f.pdf

Oh wow! Does that include the Fossil Springs Trail, #18? It looks like it does. I was just there yesterday and didn't see any word or notice posted at all, and it looks like it starts today! Sheesh! Talk about good timing. They need the rain there, for sure. It is really dry. They do have notices posted everywhere about not allowing campfires, though.
