HAZ T-shirts are cool. This Columbia shirt with "Omni-freeze technology" (copyright) is supposed to be cooler than cool.

Columbia says that bare skin is no longer the coolest option on hot humid days. The company’s newest creation, clothes made with Omni-Freeze ZERO, is, they claim, even cooler.

ZERO has circles of a sweat-absorbing polymer that swell and turn blue like tiny ice packs when you start to drip. The mechanical reaction (not chemical, as in cooling fabrics that use minty xylitol to provide a chill) sucks heat away from your body as well as moisture.

OH BOY - more gear to buy!! I am no longer just a hiker, I am a Hiking Equipment Platform.

At $60 each, I would try one. Now they need one with a repellent built in (mosquitoes, deer flies, etc.)

There appears to be other companies that are already using this or similar technology. Available now and cheaper.

Like I need MORE evidence that I sweat like a... well I sweat a lot when I hike. Swell and turn blue = neon signal that I am not keeping my cool. Not sexy.

When are they going to invent the shirt that protects you from the sun, keeps you cool, repels all dirt and stains AND makes you look damn sexy no matter who you are? I'd pay $60 for one of those...
