Software issues

Postby Darth Stiller » Oct 23 2009 10:58 pm

I bought a new Magellan last Feb. and it's been working ok. I had to download the vantage point software for free from their website in order to interface with my computer since it's not compatible with my current Delorme software or Magellan's old MapSend Topo software (which the lying phone reps said it would). Anyway, since the last time I downloaded an update for my GPS (which I never had to do before), the Vantage Point software on my computer won't open. I keep getting an error message with the typical Microsoft offer to send an error report. I un-installed the Vantage Point software, re-downloaded it, and the same problem exists. Has anyone else had this issue, or can maybe offer some help or advice? I'm ready to completely write off Magellan as a GPS option for the rest of my life right now.

I just recently bought the Triton 400. Not my first choice but picked it up for $40 new. Of course it didn't come with the manual, PC cable or anything. After weeks of getting everything and downloading Vantage Point, I now found out that I need to purchase Net Geo AZ State Series Topo map. I already bought the main Topo! program after the place I got it from told me that I would be able to download maps to my unit. :x Is there a SD card that I can get with the topo maps on it, or do I have to buy the State Series maps? What a pain in the asss! I should have spent the money that I have since wasted and got a Garmin. Free topo downloads!

On the other hand, I downloaded Vantage Point from the website and it seems to be working fine. Haven't really had the chance to use it yet.

Go Steelers!!!!

I have topo from Magellan that loads into the unit. I can try to email it to you or make a copy. No way I want anyone giving Magellan any more money. I also got a copy of the Nat Geo but wasnt able to find out how to put it into the GPS. the only good thing I have to say about Magellan is the topo that i downloaded from their site (for $60 extra) does have a lot of trails already on it.

That would be great. What a pain this has been. I'm not even very literate on a computer. Hell, I just got my fist computer only about a year and a half ago. My brother helps me most of the time. He's the smart one that got a degree in computers. I would really appreciate it if you could get me those maps. I will send you a PM with my info.
