2013: Rain, Snow, Wind, and Sun

Re: 2012: Rain, Wind, and Sun

Well, the smells of the operating room can be diverse and confusing. ;)
I think Monsoon season will begin around June 20, plus or minus 5 days, not by the calendar according to the NWS, but when dew points rise dramatically, and it begins to rain over the Sacramento Mountains. It will start about 10 days later in Arizona.

@Jim_H :D You would have enjoyed that trip. I'm still trying to figure out how it's possible to be hot and cold at the same time. Rafting on the Deschutes was a blast.

Lots of potential last night, but no show here in Tucson. Very sad. Humidity is even higher today, and there are some clouds that are moving through already. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Staying in Showlow and the area had an afternoon rain shower that included some hail.

It poured rain here for a little while both yesterday and today, so much that the water was running down the streets in torrents.

We're having daily rain. It's spotty (doesn't hit everywhere) but things are starting to green up. In fact, the FS announced a new set of closures based on protecting folks from flash floods. Closed a bunch of campgrounds. Check out the A-S website for more info, I guess.

Hot and dry here, but the forecast for precip is looking good for SE AZ and SW NM.

Finally woke up this night to a pleasant sound ---rain!! Get to turn the drip system off for the day. Now to get my stuff together and head south to see if I can get into some places with some water!

We only got .25 inches, but I got sprinkled on during my puppy walk this morning. Sweet as whiskey, nourishing as mother's milk! :y:

It's been coming down pretty consistently for about 3 hours now. Probably longer as everything was wet when I woke up. Just went for a drive and most of the bridges I went over had small creeks growing under them. If there wasn't a chance for lightning, this would be an excellent time to go for a hike.

It rained all afternoon and into the night here in the White Mtns. They had to cancel the fireworks, (on again for this coming Sat.) So, now it's cold up here, and I had to use the space heater this morning. Oh, well, we did need the rain!!! Can't have it be balmy and nice all the time, I guess.

This has been the strangest 3-day stretch of monsoon in Arizona that I can remember. Multiple days of rain along the lower Colorado and California is weird. I'm always happy with the morning showers though.

I'm in Yuma right now and I can't believe how much it rained in the last couple hours. It must be about done for the year.

http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/analysis_monitoring/enso_advisory/ensodisc.htmlI don't know how an El Nino formation would impact the remaining summer rains, but I would prefer neutral conditions for a change. Still, southern AZ and NM, TX, CA, and so on, we could all use it.

Had some light rains up here, but nothing serious.

Nicely raining off and on where I am today, Lees Ferry and Marble Canyon. Sure is needed around here. And it sure beats the 114 degree heat I experienced here about a month ago.

... rained enough that they lifted all fire restrictions over here in the Lincoln National Forest... I'm honestly getting a bit tired of the too wet conditions... still, the 50-60 degree days are nice!
