Fishing in Havasu Canyon

Postby ASUTyler » Apr 25 2006 10:01 am

Is there fishing to be had in Havasu Canyon in either the creek or a pool? I'd hate not to bring my flyrod, then be kicking myself for 4 days!

I was there this weekend and only saw a few very small fish in the creek. The water is pretty clear everywhere so if there were big fish I would think I would see them.

Ditto, only really small fish. I have never heard of anyone flyfishing there. I'm sure someone must have tried it, but if it were a happening thing I'd have heard about it, I think.

Not to be lame, but I'm sure the landowners- i.e. the tribe- might have some rules. I think it might not be allowed, but best check with them.

You could always get down the creek to the "Entering Grand Canyon N.P." sign and fish there.

There are lunkers in it and have hooked many. I spoke to many tribal members who said there were many more but the big flood that took out Apache falls washed most downstream
