I don't know...I don't find really good journalism on the internet. It may be there, but I don't find it. I find information, yeah, lots of good info on HAZ and other sites, but I like good journalism. I dislike trying to find online blogs (too time consuming to find and follow them, and most of them are NOT good journalism. Plus, you can't take the computer and lie down on the bed and read yourself to sleep in the evening.) While the best outdoor writers such as Jon Krakauer, David Roberts, David Quammen, Annick Smith, Peter Matthiessen, Tim Cahill, Rick Bass, Barry Lopez, Greg Child, Mark Jenkins and Tim Zimmerman, to name but a few, mostly have pubished in Outside Magazine and other magazines, some have occasionally found their way into Backpacker. So for 4 bucks, I might get to read several good essays during the year. That, to me, is worth 4 bucks. I can skim the info pages also, see if there's anything new. And it'll remind me what their format is, if I ever want to try submitting an article myself.
