Road conditions to Reavis TH's

Postby landsinaz » Jan 28 2004 3:39 pm

Hey, we are planning an overnighter to Reavis Ranch. Wanted to know if anyone has been out to Upper Horrell Trailhead, Miles Trailhead or out FR305/306 near Pinto Peak trail. Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I was out at the Miles TH today which is at the end of FR287A via FR287 and would say that it's in great shape but a couple spots are a little slick. If the road is dry you can make it to the TH in a car. I tried last week in my Jeep when it was raining and the road was real slick so I decided to abort the try, it's a long walk for help if you get in trouble. If you continue on FR287 instead of turning off onto FR287A you'll get to the FR305 & FR306 turnoff. FR 287 has a cattle guard that's a little collapsed so I don't think a passenger car will do, besides that the road is in good shape for a truck. I don't know about FR 305 or FR 306, I haven't been on either. As to Upper Horrell my understanding is it's sandy and you can get stuck pretty easy. The Tule TH is off the same road you would use to get to Upper Horrell but it's before the sand. I was there last week and would deem it do able in a car. You can always call the Globe RD 520?-402-6200, I've talked to the Ranger there and he seems real cool so I'm sure he'd answer your questions.
