Slope repair on State Route 87 north of Sunflower begins March 1
Drivers should expect minimal delays

PRESCOTT – Work to repair slopes and improve drainage along a four-mile segment of State Route 87 will begin Thursday (March 1), according the Arizona Department of Transportation.

The project area extends through Slate Creek from six miles north of Sunflower to eight miles south of State Route 188 (mileposts 224-228). One northbound lane will be closed from March 1 through the end of May to provide a safe work zone.

Work hours will be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday; however the lane closure will be in effect 24 hours per day. Drivers are advised to use caution through project work zone and adhere to reduced speed limit of 55 mph.

The $1.5 million project is scheduled for completion by mid-summer. ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule. At least it is not the south bound lanes. North bound at 0600 will not be so bad. South bound at 1400 would be a major pain ...
Is there anything out there, or is it just more of the same?
