I've been calling about once a week hoping some poor soul would have to cancel his PR reservation and this morning I hit the jackpot
Hotdiggitydamn.....May 21 in the male dorm, Phantom Ranch stew that evening, first seating (UGH 5:30a.m.) breakfast and a sack lunch on the 22nd
Am I one happy camper
I called for a reservation in Dec. 2001 and got lucky for an opening, May 20. Due to circumstances in my life. I will not be able to do this trip.
Rather than just cancel. I would gladly sell it, no profit, to anyone
in HAZ. If interested, contact me......Kevin
Hoolie, for your Tuesday hike, I'd suggest you head up the North Kaibab through the box for a few miles. You could go as far as Ribbon Falls if you have time. It's 6 miles from the Ranch, but an easy six.
Off early tomorrow a.m. for the GC and two days at Phantom Ranch; back home Thursday. Y'all behave while I'm gone! Of course Teva Joe, aka Bandit Joe ("Bandit" Joe....yeah, right! ) : will, by then, have an insurmountable lead in number of posts, but that's OK...gotta give the young kids a break now and then!
I'm Back!!! And what a great, great adventure! Left So. Kaibab TH at 7:00 sharp Monday a.m. and arrived at Phantom Ranch at 10:50 a.m. Loafed around the area the rest of the day and took photos. Tuesday a.m. worked off breakfast by hiking out No. Kaibab trail to Ribbon Falls. Left PR at 5:50 a.m. Wednesday and hit the rim at 11:20. Photos at:
