There was a guy down near Chiva a few weeks back looking perplexed at his Samurai laying on its side after obviously not negotiating a minor muddy turn very well. I swear that thing had 12" of block-spacer lift!! Why would you take something that practically flips over when you pull the door handle to open it and make it even more prone to tipping?! :D

My trail vehicle: 2003 Nissan Xterra w/ 5" of lift. Not a solid axle :( but it gets me to where I need to go with too much trouble.

Nice!! Here is my "heep". It's done me really well. Sure is a lot better than that Corolla I used to drive.

My off-road vehicle outdoes everyone else! 94 Saturn SC-1 coupe :sl:
I'm standing alone on the cliffs of the world
No one ever tends to me
Sitting alone, covered in rays
Some things are so my mind can breath

Yea, I hit most THs with my car... If I need something more, I can just borrow an SUV. :) I'll eventually get something more suited for my hiking lifestyle, but until I get a better job or the economy stabilizes that won't be a reality anytime soon. :(
Yea, canyoneering is an extreme sport... EXTREMELY dramatic!!! =p

We can dream, can't we? I think we both have Civics.
I think Monsoon season will begin around June 20, plus or minus 5 days, not by the calendar according to the NWS, but when dew points rise dramatically, and it begins to rain over the Sacramento Mountains. It will start about 10 days later in Arizona.

It's absolutely ridiculous but I've ended up with 3 4wd vehicles. When the economy improves or I can find a sucker-er buyer- then I will sell both Jeeps.
92 Jeep Wrangler--6 inch lift, low range gears, custom suspension, custom exhaust, lockers both axles, etc. Back in the day on the Rubicon Trail twice, Moab trails, Hells Revenge, Golden spike etc, nameless and numerous old mining roads etc, Los Coyotes Indian reservation etc. Been rolled once, and on each side once. But I've used my winch mostly for recovery for other folks. It's take me places that I probably would not have seen otherwise---like to the Dollhouse in the Maze, Canyonlands.

00Jeep Cherokee--it's basically stock and the "car". Both Jeeps have 150k+ on them now. I've done some mild four wheeling with it but save it now as the daily driver. Good for like the El Camino.. Started my craze of base "car camping"---going somewhere for two weeks and instead of hotels and tent camps, live out of the car, hike backpack.

07 FJ cruiser-- in between--- very luxurious considering what I was used to. Has more suitable tires, back seat removed and deck put in. Is the caver, hiker, backpacker vehicle now for the longer trips---more reliable. Not suited for narrow and tight mining roads ( as I found out) Plan on lifting it in the future and getting a winch. Will try to leave it alone after that.
Comes with electronic rear locker and stock ride is very nice and stable on dirt roads.

Yeah, it's overkill, but I tend to like difficult to reach TH's because I find less people that way. And it's nice when it's raining like hell to just crawl in the back and get in a sleeping bag and be done with it.

Yeah, lower. That was the VJC "wheelin 101" class. I sure learned the capabilities of my Jeep that day. I forgot to put the thing in 4lo so I ran lower Raw Deal in 4hi. Wish I had it in 4lo. I'll be posting some pics from todays run to Butcher Jones on the VJC pictures area. I recognize you from the VJC and HigherGround forums :D

RedRoxx,
You got any pictures of your YJ? What kinda lockers do you have? Sounds like a nice rig.

The YJ has a Detroit in the rear and an ARB air locker in front. I don't have any pics "hosted" anywhere but if I ever get time or get bored I'll try to put a few in my "personal" gallery----- I do have one pic of it under I think Martinez canyon in my personal pics on this site.
