It's absolutely ridiculous but I've ended up with 3 4wd vehicles. When the economy improves or I can find a sucker-er buyer- then I will sell both Jeeps.
92 Jeep Wrangler--6 inch lift, low range gears, custom suspension, custom exhaust, lockers both axles, etc. Back in the day on the Rubicon Trail twice, Moab trails, Hells Revenge, Golden spike etc, nameless and numerous old mining roads etc, Los Coyotes Indian reservation etc. Been rolled once, and on each side once. But I've used my winch mostly for recovery for other folks. It's take me places that I probably would not have seen otherwise---like to the Dollhouse in the Maze, Canyonlands.
00Jeep Cherokee--it's basically stock and the "car". Both Jeeps have 150k+ on them now. I've done some mild four wheeling with it but save it now as the daily driver. Good for like the El Camino.. Started my craze of base "car camping"---going somewhere for two weeks and instead of hotels and tent camps, live out of the car, hike backpack.
07 FJ cruiser-- in between--- very luxurious considering what I was used to. Has more suitable tires, back seat removed and deck put in. Is the caver, hiker, backpacker vehicle now for the longer trips---more reliable. Not suited for narrow and tight mining roads ( as I found out) Plan on lifting it in the future and getting a winch. Will try to leave it alone after that.
Comes with electronic rear locker and stock ride is very nice and stable on dirt roads.
Yeah, it's overkill, but I tend to like difficult to reach TH's because I find less people that way. And it's nice when it's raining like hell to just crawl in the back and get in a sleeping bag and be done with it.
