Charles Bowden in Tempe

Postby Tough_Boots » Jun 14 2009 1:03 pm

hey folks,
You should come check out Charles Bowden at Changing Hands Bookstore in Tempe on June 23rd. He's a journalist and environmental writer from Tucson. Think Hunter S. Thompson meets Edward Abbey-- brilliant stuff. He's written numerous books and publishes articles everywhere from Arizona Highways to Harpers. His latest book "Some of the Dead are Still Breathing" is a must read.
"Growth for the sake of growth is the ideology of the cancer cell."

"Killing the Hidden Waters" and "Frog Mountain Blues" are both on that list, as well!

Oh, that should be interesting! Wish I could go! His books are very interesting, and are on numerous topics, also. Mt. Lemmon, Mexico and the drug trade, etc. He was a good friend of Ed Abbey, and is said to be one of few people who actually know where ol' Ed is buried, out there in the Cabeza Prieta.
