"if you can't convince them with facts then confuse them with detail".. I just spent some time reviewing this detail map of the Pleasant Valley Ranger District which controls the Sierra Ancha Wilderness access roads, and I can't figure out if they are proposing closing lots of present access roads or not :? FR410 access to Reynolds Creek TR150 and part of Cherry Creek Rd-FR203 to access Devil's Chasm/Colds Springs Cyn/Pueblo Cyn are showing with a "brown" line color with a "yellow" highlight. I can't figure out if this means good news or bad news for those of us wanting to have driving access to these hiking areas :?: Also appears that a "red" line color with a "blue" highlight are their proposed closure FRs :?:

From looking at the Tonto Basin Map I would guess they're closing down the Rolls near Saguaro Lake since it's show as existing and not proposed.
It may be the Quad trails that are most in danger.

And it looks like they are going to pull back the parking for the Peralta Th to the area south and east of Don's camp and leave the road to the old parking lot open to emergency and Forest Service vehicles only. SSAR used to use that southern parking area for a helicopter pad. Let's hope that they create a new one near by as that trail head see's a lot of SAR callouts. :stretch:

Why? To give SAR better access? To provide more parking?

The current parking lot often gets full and congested. The new parking area will probably double or triple the available space. As to why and exactly what the Forest Service is going to do is unclear. We will just have to wait and see.
