landed in egypt

Postby pickelltree » Oct 21 2010 6:22 am

i have moved to egypt and am missing the convience of hikearizona.com. now instead of hiking around trees, i dodge cars and step over garbage. exciting, but smelly and dangerous.

my question is, does anyone know of any international hiking site like this one or guides? i have used summit post and some other random things, there has to be more.

by the way, i usually go to yellowstone every oct., this year i am going to turkey. i will be urban hiking because my gear is still in the states till christmas.

i did manage to hike the i believe tallest peak in spain near grananda this summer.

I don't know of anything to help you. Good luck in your venture! It sounds very exciting.

I can highly recommend a trip to Ephesus in Turkey though.
For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination.
Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled.

I'm pretty sure the highest point in Spain is in the Pyrenees range along the border with France....

I don't know of a good international hiking site, but HAZ lets you post international hikes here, and I doubt I'm the only one who would be interested in seeing hikes posted (or at least triplogs and photos) from your far away adventures. Enjoy your time there!

There used to be a huge international site with links by some guy named Henry but I can't find it

Do hope you post up your adventures. For international post as generic and select WW for the state which stands for World Wide.

You're kidding, right ?

How did you end up in Alexandria, Egypt? Thats not even like a summer in Europe, that out there, man.
I think Monsoon season will begin around June 20, plus or minus 5 days, not by the calendar according to the NWS, but when dew points rise dramatically, and it begins to rain over the Sacramento Mountains. It will start about 10 days later in Arizona.

There's some really great hiking in Serbia near Nis if you get the chance to stop over there on your way to or from Turkey.

i found out tonight i am couchsurfing at a guys house in istanbul that hikes and climbs regularly. he sent me two links to check out. if they are good i will forward them.

i wasn't sure about posting hikes, i would be happy to though, thanks joe. but there is not much in egypt. i will start maybe with my spain trip.

well i was in spain there were some people hiking from seville to salamanca. (along portugal's border, kinda) staying at people's houses on their way, it is some sort of pilgramige . looked like fun. there is also a trail that goes east west in the north that i heard of, but didn't get a chance to see.

Joe should start adding different countries. I'm moving to Germany for 4 years pretty soon and could add some things from there.

Is Josh still in Aegyptus, or did he leave with the political strife and upheaval? I hear the climate is a little dangerous right now and the State department is trying to get most citizens out.
