Theft at 32nd/Lincoln TH for Phx Mtn Preserve

Postby airic » Jan 31 2011 3:53 pm

A friend's car was broken into there on Friday after work. All the good stuff stolen and a smashed window. Just a heads up that it may be a new target spot.

Thanks for that info, I'm sorry for your friend. That totally sucks, great freakin way to end a good outing.. :(
On related manner, every day I drive by the little parking area on the west side of Tatum by Doubletree for the Phx. Mtn. area.
I notice broken glass many days.
Please Lord, keep me alive as long as I live.

Drive a beater. No wants to steal your stuff. ;)
Is there anything out there, or is it just more of the same?

Credit cards or cash or an ipod or anything for a quick hit in a beater is just as good as the ones in a Ferrari. Not sure about break-ins without google, but more beaters are stolen than nice cars. Just letting folks know...not that we're not aware already it happens.

i read somewhere (thought it was here) that the 32nd & lincoln trailhead is watched by thieves and that you're better off parking in the shopping center across the street
i never leave anything in my truck that i can't afford to lose
the only place i feel remotely confident in leaving my vehicle is at the beverly canyon trailhead on 46th & baseline because there is a security guard shack for BAE systems within view
there's a product i use called a spi-belt made for running that holds a phone, keys, ID, debit card, etc
my work clothes can be replaced
there is broken glass at any trailhead
it sucks, but better to take precautions that have that unpleasant surprise after a great hike

Well, PageRob has his AAI. Maybe we should also institute the ATHS. Arizona Trailhead Snipers... ;)

Every time I'm at that TH I see broken window glass in the parking lot. There have been two occasions while I was there that a car had been broken into. When I had talked to the victims waiting for the cops to arrive, they didn't sound too confident that the surveillance camera would have given them any usable information. Just best never to leave valuables in the car, no matter what TH you're hiking from.

Leave no valuables and leave the car unlocked so they don't break in. Of course that assumes the low-life is smart enough to check the locks.

Apparently the Government and Bullet THs up on Cedar Mesa are hotspots.
