And as of this coming Saturday the new route up the south side of the Catalinas between Hope Camp and Grass Shack is officially open, or so I hear from NPS.

He's lucky on the Galiuros route; the first cabin he passed is on Andy Smallhouse's ranch and he does not take kindly to any trespass. It is available to be rented out for about 100.00 a night last I heard.
I went ahead and emailed the folks on the website about the above information--- they may want to contact Andy regarding the published route. The legal way in is via the road to Jackson cabin.
