Rim County Hikes

Re: Rim County Hikes

Sure would come in handy at Hermit Creek and other mousey places!

Speaking of Rim hikes, the Rim area is where the grand HAZ Summerfest is going to be. No one has pointed that out yet, so I thought I would. :D viewtopic.php?t=6888

I tie it up pretty far from camp, usually 80 yards or so. I set my compass so I can find it in the morning. Nothing has ever messed with it so far, and I've even seen a bear walk right under it in the Galiuros.

You should hang any food bag 100-200 yards from your sleeping spot. Watch youtube for the PCT hanging system.

Oh, you guys and your darned YARDS! Sigh... My husband was always talking about how he would see a deer, about 200 yards over there, or he set up targets at 100 yards, or he saw an elk about 300 yards from him. I'm all, deer in the headlights, have no idea how to picture that distance. He would say something about picturing a football field. I'd say, you know me, I have never watched football. Well, okay, I often used to run around the track on a football field. Ok I can picture a football field. Now if I could just remember how many yards a football field is. Yes, truly, I have never really watched more than about 10 minutes of football at one time (and that was on TV), so I have no idea.

And no, thank you, please do not invite me to a football game. If I wanted to go to a football game, it's very popular at the Dome in Eagar, I could go there. I had a hard enough time of it with the tedious obligatory parental watching of soccer when my kid played. Bored me to death sitting there. I don't track well, you see. It's all kind of a blur, people running around on a field.

However, I can count. 100 paces, 200 paces. That would work. ;)

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty & well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, totally worn out & proclaiming, "Wow What a Ride!"

You might want to go to the top of that page and sign yourself in as either "committed" or "interested." :)
