Habitat:Found mainly East of the Sierra and Cascade Ranges, throughout the Great Basin, from Southwest Canada to Northern Arizona and New Mexico. Also found in Northern California, west of the Sierra Nevadas. Low to middle elevation mountain Canyons. Sagelands, Flowery River Flats and Plateaus.

Description:Male, bright Blue above, Female, Slate Blue/Gray or Gray with soft Brown shading. Both sexes below, nearly White with sparse Black Spotting.

Comments:In spite of it's color, which would normally classify it with the "Blues", the Venation and Structure of this Butterfly ally it more with the "Coppers". The differences in the Blues and Coppers is becoming more and more minimal with time. Both Male and Females frequent Flowers. Various Species of Wild Buckwheat is a favorite.
