Holbrookia elegans

Habitat:Southeastern Arizona. Grasslands, Desert, and open Woodlands, ranging from 2,200' to 6,500+ Feet in Elevation. Prefers open, level areas with sparse vegetation.

Description:Light Colored Base with Light Spots and four Rows of Blotches or Chevrons that run from the Neck to the Tail, with a Row running all the way to the Tip of the Tail. Two to Three Dark Bars behind the Forelimbs, but may be pale or absent on Females. Bottom of Tail is White with no Pattern. No External Ear Openings. There may be an Orange/Yellow Patch on the Throat. Males will have light Yellow on Belly with Blue Borders on Side Bars. They may have Lighter Spots and less defined Chevrons or Blotches Dorsally. Gravid Females may have Pink/Peach Anterior below and Yellow Posterior.

Comments:Similar Common Lesser Earless Lizard is smaller and lacks Marking on the Posterior Third of the Tail.
