Cyprinodon sp

Pupfish are a type of killfish that are in various continents. The ones in the southwest desert are stricted to isolated water areas, many of which have high saline or are endanger of drying up. Some locations of pupfish are in Death Valley National Park, Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge, Cibola National Wildlife Refuge, Anza Borrego Desert State Park, at Hoover Dam, and Devil's Hole.

Pupfish are very adaptable. They are small and fast and most active in April, where the males change color and do what appears to be a dance to attract females. When the water temperature reaches at constant 70 degrees, they males turn blue and yellow. Pupfish populations in the southwest are falling. Pupfish eat both plants and animals.
