Rain aprons are a way of gathering water over a relatively large area into one or more tanks. Obviously, the larger the area, the more of the rain which can be retained. The apron may be a temporary device, such as plastic sheeting, or a permanent structure, such as a concrete pad. There may be piping as well, but there will always be some sort of retention device, such as a concrete or metal tank, probably covered to prevent evaporation.
