This is such a great area for cross country skiing. Right now there is about 3 feet of snow. It's near Green's Peak. One of my photos shows a view toward Sunrise ski area, where people pay a lot of money to be crowded. I paid no money and saw no other people until almost back to the car, I ran into two other skiers, who belonged to TRACKS Pinetop hiking club, which I also belong to.

Oddly, you wouldn't think so, but it takes longer to ski 6 miles than it does to hike them, at least for me.

I posted this as a GPS route, for the very first time. I have no topo software, either on my GPS or on my computer, just the free easy GPS on my computer and standard highway software on the Garmin 60CX. I was able to print out a topo map of my route, and believe me, this is a major accomplishment for me! I think I should just keep fiddling with it, and maybe do some "geotrashing" since a friend of mine up here has been caching stuff around here for years. I know a lot of you guys hate that sport, but I think it will help me learn something.
