This was a great hike. We reached the TH at 7:30 AM and right away saw 5 deer starring us down on the trail right as we topped the first saddle. I knew then this was going to be a great day!! I quickly grabbed the camera as they took off, but not before I got one picture of them. The climb up was fairly steep but we made excellent time and we saw another deer as we were looking down into the canyon. That picture did not come out a good as I had hoped and he had no intentions of posing for me. We got a little off route in the canyon itself but were able to reclaim the trail fairly quickly. After some bushwacking through the overgrown trail we made our way into Angel Basin. Wow!! Got to the Cliff Dwellings, had lunch and took some pictures, then headed back. Total miles on the GPS was 12.7 and elasped time was 7 hours.
