I was up visiting the Valley of the Interminable Sun for Easter and planting season with mom - and I knew that I'd need a little escape in there somewhere. So I typed up a quick note to my buddy Tibber who actually likes living in this metropolitan hell hole and invited her to take me out and see the sites. She really delivered! Not only was the Cave Creek/Spur Cross area green and lush and full of wildflowers, but it felt millions of miles from Phoenix for most of the time! She did such a wonderful job of detailing our route - I won't repeat any of that. I'll only mention my favorite moments of the hike:
- Angela's statement that it's never crowded out here followed seconds later by a full parking lot and a man on a loud speaker shouting out people's names for the 10k. Yeah. Real quiet Angela!
- Lilo splashing, playing and laying down in the creek every chance she got. She may not have many Lab traits, but she LOVES the creeks!
- Giant saguaros, giant cottonwoods, giant barrels and giant lupine...It's like there's something special in that water. I hope Lilo doesn't start to get bigger...
- That yummy fish burrito eaten with a view of the duck pond at El Encanto while sipping a prickly pear margarita with a good friend, my mom and a very devoted Mr. Wendy (who heroically mom-sat for me all morning!)
Just another perfect day on the trail!

It troubles me that these days no matter how cynical you become, it's never enough to keep up
