Nice overnight trip to Sedona with Mrs. Bart01 and our pup Muesli. Started with a little 4x4 up Schnebly Hill Road for some great mid afternoon views of the red rocks. Drove past all the pink and other colored jeeps past Schnebly Hill Vista for dispersed camping outside the protected no camping area. Just as we pulled in to a camp area with a fire ring it started to lightly snow. Started the campfire put up the tent and jogged up the road to get a couple sunset pictures. Enjoyed the campfire, solitude, and stars as the temperatures dropped below 36 degrees. Slept in and relaxed. Broke camp and went into town for a Coffee on the way to the trail head. The drive into town was interesting and I wish I could have stayed to watch the numerous compact cars that had managed to make it to the overlook before the Vista. I counted 8 of these compact cars (looked like rentals) :sl: :worthy: There is a 1.5 foot drop off at the top of one of the hills that I had difficulty in a high clearance 4x4 getting up over on the way into town without scraping. The weather was perfect with a nice breeze. Trail was nice. Saw numerous Cliff Dwellings along the trail. Hiked up to some on side trails. Have one in particular I would like to go back to see, but didn't have time with the family. Muesli did his first hike with a weighted pack for future multi day hikes. :y: He carried 2 liters and enough food for a weekend with no problems. :y:

I definitely plan on going back to explore side trails and the other canyons preferably on some midweek excursions in the future.

How To Put Out a Campfire
A campfire must be extinguished by drowning it with water, stirring with a shovel, and repeating that process until the campfire is cold to the touch. A campfire is still a danger if it has any trace of heat, and must not be left or abandoned. Wildfires can begin by abandoned campfires that rebuild heat on windy days and then blowing embers ignite surrounding grasses and brush.
