Beautiful day on the desert. Amazing clouds, quiet trail-less walking, some challenges when I decided to do a short ridgeline segment, great views and geology. All the rock here sparkled with mica. That is what I love about the desert, the rocks and the open feel. I saw very large rose quartz and lots of lizards, one poseur of a rattlesnake, hawks, etc. Big and plentiful saguaros and there you have it.

Some internet resources indicate there is no public access off I-8. I found this to apparently be not true, I went through a gate and the only signage I saw was please close the gate. About 4 miles is cherry stemmed out to Big Horn tank, to a large berm and a locked gate. Another gate has a BLM route sign and the road ends quickly just out of sight ( but not sound) of the interstate.

This a nice part of the Sonoran desert, recommended if you just like wandering around.
