We woke up early and risked the forecasted thunderstorms-- and we won! The weather was amazing. It was cool and humid upon our arrival and the clouds allowed the blue skies to show by 11am. This was my first time on the Cabin Loop Trails and I was very pleased. We made it out to Dane Cabin and returned from there due to my friend's knee troubles. The wildlife was out as well. We saw two gatherings of elk and at Dane Cabin we met the friendliest chipmunk ever. He kept coming (un-lured) within a couple feet of me as I ate lunch. My only other thought on this hike is the ratings on the trip description. I might give the route finding a 3 only because we weren't the only ones we met on the trail that day that went the wrong way a couple times. I would also bump the difficulty up to a 3. Although much of the hike is a stroll, Barbershop Canyon is a beast to come out of. We also saw some mountain bikers and wondered how they were going to maneuver that area. Today was perfect and I dreaded returning to the Phoenix heat.

Havasu Canyon Trail - Sep 15 2014
I was watching the helicopter make multi-drops of people and supplies when, at one point, a stray horse wandered into the landing field (the gate was open). The guys unloading the supplies chased it around the field until it went back out the gate. Then as it was running up the main drag, another resident must have thought it got loose so he shooed it back into another open gate and back into the field. So now these guys are chasing it around the field again but this time they start pelting it with rocks. The horse was panicking and didn't know where to go. Rocks were being hurled at it from all directions. He ended up falling down after a really hard rock hit and it looked like he broke...
