Babes Hole Spring Canyon
Got an invite to do this canyon with a whopping 60 minute notice....LOL. (due to some contact glitches, I guess) When the Canyons call, this girl has got to go!
I quickly ignored all 14 other things that I had planned to do....funny how my priorities shifted.
Tossed my gear together(which happened to be sitting near the front door), sent a quick email with emergency contact info/trip plans to a friend and jumped in the car. We headed up to Flag, camped at the trailhead and got a fairly early start.
This canyon is a short tributary to Little LO spring Canyon. Hiked from Kelsey to a dry stream bed with dark gray boulders. This is where we left the trail and started the fun rock-hopping down the drainage until it slotted up. There are about 5 rappels and a few down climbs before reaching the end of this pretty, mostly dry little canyon. We walked a short distance to Little LO canyon and continued on to the confluence with Sycamore Canyon. We turned left at Geronimo Spring, hopped on Kelsey Spring Trail and followed that all the up (about 1500 feet) to the trailhead under the hot-ultra-humid-almost-monsoon sky.
It was a very sweet little canyon, NO WETSUIT NEEDED(woohoo), enjoyed the company and learned lots!
