Tough, beautiful, hot, humid and lush greenery with lots of flowers. Power's Hill road was closed, not sure why, did not get to talk to rancher. So camped at Deer Creek (wonderful sunset) and headed in on the Tortilla trail next day. This was Brian's first trip into the Galiuro interior. Years ago he met and talked to one of the Power's brothers at Klondyke asking about caves in the Aravaipa area. He said the old man kept on talking about gold and trying to steer him into this area but he wasn't interested at the time.

All the creeks were flowing, this was good to cool down in. Charlies' feet got torn up and we ended up making him booties of athletic and duct tape. Horses and mules greeted us at the forest service cabin, very friendly.

No one was at the Garden. The cabins were very neat and someone has been seriously working on bringing some water to the main cabin, but no luck we could see. We hiked down Rattlesnake some to the old mining remains but didn't make it to the shootout cabin this trip. Crossing the main wash wasn't too bad, it was running but not very deep. Nice to see so much water in here when it is usually mostly dry.
Torrential rain overnight then hiked out under sunny skies, not too hot until we reached the vehicle.
Nice to visit home.
