| | One of Brian's favorite areas. Pretty tough hiking, crawling through and on bushes, tiptoeing on tiny ledges of cliff faces, following bear trails. Some of it in a rock garden area. Great car camping with views and old trails. A significant area full of old Indian sign and some unusual cave formation in quartzite. Geology supposition is they were formed by acid flow. We left three registers. One cave had some extremely large bats, as big as some large birds. Lots of alcoves too, some old walls. The caves had no formations, but formed phreatic tubes that in some cases were followable for several hundred feet. We had a bear in camp Sun morning, but after all we were on his route. Couldn't get any pics of him in time tho.... | | | |
