I drove to the gate up at the tank, specifically on the hunt for ladybugs. It is archery bull elk season, and I saw many camps and hunters (some on ATV's). I was a little nervous about being in the area in late afternoon. Parked at the gate and walked the road up around the mountain to the lookout. On my way a bull elk and I startled each other. The picture isn't great, but I wasn't expecting big game on the road! There were ladybugs in some small trees by the cabin. I took my pack off to get the macro lens--it was covered in ladybugs within a few minutes! Getting them all out was fun. I stayed for sunset up on the stairs of the lookout. No one was manning the lookout today.
