Hiked this trail last year at peak fall color. Mostly poked around the lower Aspens and took some photos. This time I was set on bagging the peak. Camped in Nutrioso with friends and headed up to the trail from there. We arrived at the TH around 6:45am and were the first ones there. This is usually a busy trail in the fall, so it was nice to arrive before the crowds. We reached the peak in about 2 hours, enjoying the sights along the way. Climbed the fire tower, snacked and made our way back down. This is a beautiful trail. We caught it before peak color, but I liked it just as much. The mixture of green and yellow aspen leaves was as pretty as the solid yellows at peak. One, maybe two more weekends left to enjoy the fall spectacular.
