After Leaving Lockett Meadow due to the Schultz Fire, I went down and spent the night in Sedona, waking up to hike Cathedral Rock again. I love this hike. It is easy hike, but can be tough for someone afraid of heights in some spots. but as long as you walk up in the cracks in the rocks anyone can do this trail. It gets windy up at the top so hold on to your hats. I walked even farther up the trail following the rock wall, which gives you 3 side trails for overlooks, and then at the dead end, you can see the river down below on the backside of the Rock. This trail once you made it to the top, is to the left, which doesnt look like a trail until you get close to it. Follow the wall, and it will go up to the first vista, and then back down, following close to the wall the whole way around. most people dont even know this is here, and so they miss the best part of the trail. Children becareful, at the dead end you could slip and that would be the end of you, but it is really safe as long as you stay near the wall of the trail.

Finally a Great Hiking App This is a must have for the avid or even beginning hiker. Easy to set up and use. The Topo maps and the ability to download a track prior to hiking, will ensure I get out of the Wilderness OK. If I set my phone to Airplane Mode, (GPS On) I've gone 13 hours with battery to spare. Recent upgrades have made this very user friendly for both the occasional Hiker/Walker to the All Day Hikers. Lots of Stats available to keep track of what you are doing.
