Well, I took the city slickers camping this weekend up on the rim. I had scouted a few car camping spots a couple weeks ago when hiking a few miles on Rim Road connecting Promontory Butte and Horton Springs. Luckily the one I was hoping for was ours for the taking. Its a beautiful spot right on the rim with great views.

Our plan was to wake up early Sunday morning and drive down to the Babe Haught trail and take a short hike to Knoll Lake and then up the the north end and back. Unfortunately Sunday morning, I received a message from my buddy who was supposed to stop by my place and let my dog out a few times over the weekend-- his three year old daughter hid my keys and forgot where! So we had to come back earlier that day than planned and had to cancel the lake hike. Thats ok, though. It gives me an excuse to come back up soon and do it again the long way from the hatchery.

Also, the eastern end of Rim Rd 300 is starting to get some color. The aspens are turning gold.
